Practical help for independent trips, calmly delivered

What Travel Around the Words is

Travel Around the Words is an independent travel journal for people who plan their own trips. We write destination guides, day-by-day itineraries, budget breakdowns, visa and entry-rule checklists, and notes on flights, stays and the best months to go. Everything is written in plain language, with the trade-offs spelled out, so you can decide for yourself instead of following a ranking.

The journal is edited by a small editorial desk of independent travelers. We book our own flights, read the fine print on our own paperwork and make our own mistakes, and then we write down what we would do differently. That is the whole idea: practical help, calmly delivered.

Who the journal is for

Two kinds of readers keep us honest. The first is planning a first trip abroad and wants to know what comes first: passport, dates, money, bookings. The second travels often and wants sharper routes, a tighter packing list and a more realistic budget. If you enjoy building a trip yourself rather than buying a package, you are who we write for.

We are not a booking agency. We do not sell tours, tickets or hotel rooms, and we will never ask you to book through us. Our job ends when you feel ready to book wherever you choose.

What you will find here

The journal is organised into five sections, each with its own page of articles:

  • Destination Guides: where to stay, how to get around and what is worth the early start, place by place.
  • Itineraries & Budgets: routes you can follow day by day, and the costs you should expect to plan for.
  • Visas & Paperwork: how to check entry rules, what documents to gather and where to verify them officially.
  • Flights & Stays: finding fair fares, connecting safely and choosing the right kind of bed.
  • When to Go: month-by-month ideas, weather patterns and shoulder-season trips that dodge the crowds.

How we work

Each article starts with a question a traveler would actually ask. We answer it in the first two sentences, then go deeper: short paragraphs, concrete steps, checklists and comparison tables where they help. We explain trade-offs instead of declaring one option the best, because the right choice depends on your dates, your budget and how much uncertainty you are comfortable with.

Anything that changes often, such as visa rules, fees, timetables and opening hours, is flagged as such. For those details we point you to the official source, usually a government or operator website, and we ask you to confirm before you commit. We would rather send you to the right page than quote a number that may be out of date.

Editorial principles

We do not invent prices, fees or statistics. We do not promise that a visa will be approved, because no guide can. We do not publish made-up personal stories, and we do not use clickbait headlines. When we are unsure, we say so, and when we learn we were wrong, we correct the article and note the change.

The journal carries no endorsement of any airline, hotel chain, insurer or booking site. If that ever changes, it will be stated plainly on the page where it applies.

Frequently asked questions

Do you sell trips or bookings?

No. We are an editorial site. We explain how to plan and book on your own, and we do not take bookings or payments.

Can I rely on your visa information?

Use it as a starting point. Entry rules change, so always confirm with the embassy, consulate or official government portal of the country you are visiting before you travel.

How do I suggest a destination or topic?

Write to us with the place, the month you have in mind and the question you are stuck on. We read every message, though we cannot promise a reply to each one.

I found a mistake. What should I do?

Tell us which article and which line. We check against the official source and correct the page when you are right.
